The role of protein in the body
Collagen is protein, and we all know that protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscles; but did you know that not all proteins are equal? Our bodies use different sizes and shapes of proteins, as well as different amino acids, for different purposes.
About proteis and peptides
Collagen is one of the most important types of protein produced by the body. Muscular collagen helps to protect and nurture individual muscle cells, and forms the basis of tendons that anchor muscles to bones. Our body makes collagen by sequentially combining triplets of amino acids; glycine with proline, hydroxyproline and other amino acids into a large ‘supercoiled’ helix structure that’s especially elastic and strong.
- MUSCLE BUILD supplies all of the right amino acids as ‘cut to size’ peptides ready to support your strong, healthy muscles.
- Beef collagen is hydrolysed using specific enzymes that breakdown the strong triple helix, denature it into chains and then into precise low molecular weight peptides (2,500 – 4,000 kDa) that have been optimised for building muscles.
Clinically tested peptides
Clinical studies show that consuming MUSCLE BUILD following resistance exercise / training
- Can further enhance muscle mass and strength
- Can help to improve and promote lean body mass
MUSCLE BUILD superfood has been specially designed for people who care about their health and lean body mass. It’s ideal for athletes and for aging individuals. MUSCLE BUILD is also a good source of protein that’s necessary for tissue building and repair.

Muscle collagen provides a clean and healthy source of protein that replaces energy used in training. Ideal to include in sports drinks and smoothies.
When taken at 15 grams per day Muscle Repair is reported to be more beneficial in the production of muscle mass and muscle repair than whey protein powder.
What’s The Difference?
Protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass. Protein is made up of amino acids. You will notice the amino acid profile is the same in the Gelatin Health range of Gelatin / Collagen products. This is because all of our products are derived from the same source. The difference in each of the products is where and how the amino acid chain is split. This enables the product to be produced with specific molecular weight, size, and structural properties to help with growth and maintenance of muscle mass when used as part of a healthy diet involving the consumption of a variety of foods.
Protein contributes to growth & maintenance of muscle repair
Gelatin and Collagen are excellent sources of protein for physically active people who exercise regularly at the gym or with personal trainers. Because of the amino acid profile and special formulation of the Collagen, consumers can experience increased muscle mass and muscle performance. Collagen can replace whey protein powders as Collagen contains no fillers, sugars or chemicals, and there are no known allergens or negative reactions to Collagen. Our hydrolysed Collagen is also readily available to the body and has rapid absorption after oral consumption.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body
Gelatin and Collagen are both high in protein and contains 18 amino acids, which makes them perfect for stimulating and increasing muscle growth. Ideal for those who have lost muscle mass due to illness or hospitalisation. Gelatin and Collagen are great for muscle repair after exercise or sports-related injury. It helps heal wounds and tighten skin because protein is necessary for tissue building and repair.
*Food grade Gelatin has 88 grams protein per 100 grams
*Hydrolysed Collagen has 96 grams protein per 100 grams
Gelatin and Collagen are fantastic to use as a post-recovery protein – immediately after exercise.
BCAA’s (branched-chain amino acids) are well known for their ability to breakdown protein. The amino acids in Gelatin and Collagen are great for protein synthesis as well. The amino acids that have been considered as conditionally essential for this process are: arginine, cysteine, glutamine, glycine, proline and tyrosine, all of which are found in Collagen and Gelatin, and contain in very high concentrations.
These are the amino acids that the body requires for post-recovery, but unable to rapidly synthesise them in the required amounts for recovery from intense activities (exercise) or recovery from a disease or injury or stress and when nutrient absorption capabilities are decreased (e.g. elderly people). So taking Gelatin or Collagen as a supplement directly after a workout will assist the body with the required amino acids for protein synthesis.
Gelatin and Collagen have been useful for those who work out to increase muscle mass and tone. The alanine in Gelatin has been shown to help protect cells from being damaged during intense aerobic activity when the body cannibalises muscle protein to help produce energy.
Excellent source of protein for physically active people
Gelatin is also abundant in proline. The proline in Gelatin helps keep muscles and joints flexible. It is also used in the development and maintenance of healthy skin, muscle and connective tissues, especially at the site of traumatic tissue injury.
Glycine is the simplest of the amino acids. It is a building block and precursor for several molecular pathways. Glycine also helps to repair damaged tissues; without it, our wounds would never heal.
Arginine and glycine together are precursors for and boost the level of creatine. Creatine supplies the energy to all cells in the body and increases muscle mass.
*Please note: We would never recommend anyone use Collagen or Gelatin as their only source of protein due to its low levels of some essential amino acids and lack of tryptophan.
We do recommend that Collagen powders always be used as part of a healthy diet involving the consumption of a variety of foods.
